Sorrento Quay is the name given to the boat harbour in the suburb of Hillarys. In fact strictly speaking, the harbour lies between Sorrento and Hillarys, which is probably why it is known by both names, but is in fact, the same place. Sorrento Quay or Hillarys Boat Harbour. It is a very popular local and tourist destination. It is a very beautiful harbour that lies along the northern coastal area of Perth. It has lots of restaurants, retail shops, tourist shops, children's entertainment areas, some rides, holiday accommodation, a great beach for the kids and even an Aquarium. It's no surprise that Sorrento Quay is always busy and a hive and activity. It is also one of only two places where you can catch the ferry over to Rottnest Island. This photograph was taken looking directly west from the boat launch car park, to the north side of the harbour. The photographs focus, is the tranquil water of the harbour and its symmetry. The bright lights of the Breakwater restaurant pull the viewers eye out to the side and make you focus on the building. I particularly like the dreamy effect of the calm water and last light fading away into the centre of the image. A firm favourite.
